Situated within a rapidly expanding satellite township of Dhaka, this proposal rethinks the convention complex as a hybridized civic landscape—one that reconciles infrastructural demands with regional memory and social gathering.
Faced with extensive parking requirements, the design integrates a shallow, ramped parking structure beneath a gently undulating public plaza. This surface operates not only as connective tissue between programmatic volumes, but as an urban field that reactivates the site’s erased topography—an homage to the once-contoured rural terrain prior to its flattening for development. Above the plaza, the landscape draws inspiration from the rhythmic patchwork of Bangladeshi paddy fields, translated into a soft infrastructural system of green bands and shaded thresholds. These planted seams define spaces for gathering, rest, and passage—inviting an ever-shifting choreography of use across time and season.
Passive design strategies and locally sourced materials reinforce both environmental and economic resilience. More than a singular building, the community center is conceived as a layered civic terrain: performative, rooted, and responsive.
