A Plinth for People
School Design Competition
Nepal
2025
Every childhood story in Nepal begins at the Chautari—a raised plinth under a tree, a timeless space for gathering and learning. Inspired by this, our school centers on a plinth: both a foundation and a stage for imagination, play, and safety. It elevates against floods, hosts a multipurpose hall for community resilience, and anchors classrooms optimized for light and airflow. Modular and scalable, the design adapts across terrains and budgets. An orchard, rainwater harvesting, and solar panels turn the school into a climate-resilient lab.
Built with local materials, the school invites full community participation and nurtures both children and culture.
