IAB Awards Crest Design Competition

This was the winning design for the crest of IAB awards, the most prestigious recognition in Bangladeshi architecture field. 

This trophy acknowledges the craftsman of Bangladeshi architecture. 

Unlike common base and body formation, the IABcrest is an undivided form of a single material.  Instead of a mere sculpture dependent on a logo to recognize it, the entire form represents the IAB event.

The singular form represents tolerance and perseverance of architects whose contribution upholds IAB, the united embodiment of Bangladeshi architecture. The iabcrest is made of  Copper, which has a long connection to our culture and history. The traditional art of copper houseware is almost forgotten. The brushed and hammered copper finish remembers our crafts and culture, while laser etching texts further intertwines it with modern technology. The metal surface also changes with light reflection creating an everchanging appearance.

Further, we designed it as a tactile object rather than only visual. The hammered surface creates a tactile experience/memory as well as protects the surface from fingerprints. It also represents the sacrifice of people who smoothen the journey of IAB. The weight also plays an important factor in the impression.

The availability of the material makes it easy to build with low material costs. Instead, we want to use this opportunity for the betterment of the local craftsman.
